Summer Music Classes for Children

Whether you are looking to start a brand new instrument and need some basic instruction or looking for a special class to enjoy, we have a variety of exciting classes to choose from this summer. There is something for everyone!

Study with the Masters: Teen Master Class Workshop in singing and musical theater performance with acclaimed professional singer Wendy Waller and Broadway actor/singer Pierce Peter Brandt.

The Popular Movie Theme Workshop for Wind and Brass Instruments: A fun 4 week program for students who want to continue playing their instruments over the summer. Open to students with 5th or 6th grade band or orchestra experience.

Instrument Safari Class: One day class where students get to try and explore a variety of instruments. Classes meet at West Valley Music and are limited to 6 students. Single classes offered.

Little Mozart/Dancing Fingers: Designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of piano playing in a nurturing environment. Free Preview class June 8th.

Summer Teen Masterclass Workshop

Study with the Masters

Teen Master Class Workshop in singing and musical theater performance with acclaimed professional singer Wendy Waller and Broadway actor/singer Pierce Peter Brandt.

Open to students entering grades 7-12 with prior performing and singing experience. Limited class size. A professional accompanist will also be provided.

Limited to a select group of talented students who already have some singing and/or musical theater performing experience under their belts, this master class is an absolute must for the singer/performer who is ready to take his or her abilities to the next level.

This is a rare opportunity to work with not just one, but two experienced teachers who are also accomplished and active professional performers in singing, music, and theater. Singer/performer Wendy Waller will work with students on fine-tuning and further development of their singing voices, while singer/actor Pierce Peter Brandt will work on song acting, interpretation, and performance.

Students will be given the essential tools to identify and cultivate those seemingly elusive elements of vocal production and song performance that make the difference between a performer who gets cast and gives outstanding performances, and one who simply hopes for the chance. The master class will culminate in a presentation of both solo and ensemble numbers from the musical theater repertoire.

Popular Movie Theme Workshop for Wind and Brass

The Popular Movie Theme workshop is a fun 4 week program for students who want to continue playing their instruments over the summer. As a group, students will learn to play music from movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and more in a level appropriate class while receiving individual attention as needed. Classes meet once a week at West Valley Music and are limited to 8 students. Open to students with 5th or 6th grade band or orchestra experience.

Children's Group Piano Classes

Little Mozart II (ages 4-5) and Dancing Fingers (ages 6-7)

With a class limit of 5 these classes are designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of piano playing in a nurturing environment. Students will be encouraged to learn notation, appropriate theory and ear training to help develop musicality and enjoyment. Practice is required and parents/caregivers must be in attendance as well.

Instrument Repair

Our repair department is located onsite and operates five days a week. We offer an appointment system where your instrument is scheduled for work on a specific day. You can keep your instrument until you drop it off the day before the appointment. It can then be picked up late on the appointment day or the next day. Smaller repairs can be left at the shop to fit between larger jobs, taking two days to two weeks depending on the time of year.
