Bruce Campbell has been playing drums and percussion for over 40 years. Accomplished in many styles including rock, combo jazz, big band jazz, funk, pop, R&B, soul and Latin, he has extensive professional performing and recording experience including national tours and cruise ship contracts. He has also performed in the orchestra pit for over 70 professional and semi‐professional musical theater production runs.
Yamaha Drum
Bruce is a Yamaha Drums Regional Artist Endorsee. He ran the San Jose Guitar Center drum shop for 3 years and is knowledgeable about the retail/wholesale drum business.
Bruce continues to play and teach in the area, lives in Mountain View with his wife and daughter, and is active in local church and school musical programs.
For the last 10 years, Campbell has been the drummer for a local 19-piece big band made up of a premier ensemble of local professional musicians. Originally named the West Valley Jazz Orchestra, and then the San Jose Jazz Orchestra, the group is now simply known as NINETEEN, and is performing and recording original contemporary big band compositions, playing guest artist concerts and doing educational outreach throughout the south Bay Area. Bruce also plays in a six-piece classic rock band called The Shanks that plays fun rock and roll from the 80’s and 90’s at festivals, concert series, corporate events and charity benefits.

Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Brian Bromberg, Wayne Bergeron, Horace Alexander Young, Hafaez Modirzadeh, Russell Ferrante, Jamie Davis, Dave Liebman, Ali Ryerson, Dee Daniels, Kim Nalley, Ernie Watts, Don Menza, Grant Geissman, Madeline Eastman, Carl Saunders, Wayne Wallace, Eric Miyashiro, Greg Adams, Jeff Lorber, Pamela Rose, and Gordon Goodwin.
